2008 El Dia de los Ninos
Dear Community Partner,
It is with great excitement that I invite you to join with us as we host our 2nd Annual celebration of El Dia de Los Ninos on Sunday, April 27th to be held on the grounds of the Basilica. Much in the way that we celebrate Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, many nations throughout the world, and especially within the Western hemisphere celebrate “Día de los Niños” on April 30th to honor and celebrate our young adults and children—who represent the hope and dreams of every community. This special day is a gift from the Latino community to all children throughout the world. In partnership with the National Latino Children’s Institute the Basilica of the Little Flower has been 
chosen as the official site for the city of San Antonio!
The Planning Committee has designed this San Antonio Fiesta “community collaborative”, to act as a catalyst for youth development by providing a fun and exciting venue for children of all races and diverse backgrounds to enjoy a day out with their families and engage with their San Antonio community, while learning about the many opportunities that are available to them. As a leading non-profit organization that centers on the needs and interests of our youth we hope that you will join with us in supporting this important outreach endeavor. The event layout will include “zones” that include but not limited to: education, social and health services, sports, volunteerism, arts and gardening to include young “honorees” that represent each category. This year we are especially excited to be a participant of Blue Sunday by helping to raise awareness of child abuse and show support for the efforts being made on behalf of children. Special activities created to remember the victims of child abuse and honor those who rescue them will be coordinated throughout the day. chosen as the official site for the city of San Antonio!There is no better time than now to get involved in helping to make this celebration an outstanding success for an estimated 4,000 members of the San Antonio community. As a participant you have the opportunity to introduce the services of your organization to a wide audience and help to confirm that programs like this are not done in vain. We wish to share with you the opportunity to make a difference for the children of San Antonio by strengthening our neighborhoods through community collaboration.
